Grain
Overview
Connect Grain to AskElephant to automatically bring your Grain recordings into your workspace. Once connected, new Grain recordings are imported for transcription, AI summaries, signals, and Workflows, so your team can review and act on them in AskElephant.
Grain is a one-way connection: recordings flow from Grain into AskElephant. AskElephant does not write anything back to Grain.
Who It's For
Teams recording calls in Grain who want them analyzed in AskElephant
RevOps and customer success teams reviewing calls in one place
Before You Begin
You need the workspace owner role in AskElephant to open Workspace Settings and connect an integration.
You need a Grain admin account with API access to the workspace's recordings.
Step 1: Get Your Grain Token
In Grain, open API settings.
Create a Personal Access Token (it starts with
grain_pat_).Copy the token.
Step 2: Connect Grain in AskElephant
Sign in as a workspace owner.
Click your workspace name, then open
Workspace Settings → Integrations.Find Grain.
Paste your token in the Personal Access Token field.
Optionally turn on Automatic Grain imports to keep importing new recordings going forward.
Click
Connect.
You'll see a confirmation once the connection saves. If you're already connected and want to change a setting, update the toggle and click Save. You don't need to re-enter your token.
What Happens After You Connect
New Grain recordings start importing automatically.
Imported recordings appear in AskElephant like any other meeting, with a transcript, summary, and signals ready for review and Workflows.
New recordings typically appear within a few minutes.
Automatic Grain imports covers new recordings only. It does not pull in past recordings.
Importing Historical Recordings
Automatic imports only bring in recordings created after you connect. If you need older Grain recordings imported, contact the AskElephant team and we'll help plan the import. See Importing Call Recordings into AskElephant for the other ways to bring recordings in.
Troubleshooting
Connect fails. Your token may be invalid or expired. Regenerate the Personal Access Token in Grain and reconnect.
No new recordings are importing. Confirm Automatic Grain imports is on and that the recordings exist in Grain. New recordings can take a few minutes to appear.
I need older recordings. Automatic imports only bring in new recordings. Contact support for help with a historical import.
