Gong
Overview
Connect Gong to AskElephant to automatically bring your Gong call recordings into your workspace. Once connected, new Gong calls are imported for transcription, AI summaries, signals, and Workflows, so your team can review and act on them in AskElephant without leaving the app.
Gong is a one-way connection: calls flow from Gong into AskElephant. AskElephant does not write anything back to Gong.
Who It's For
Sales leaders who want Gong calls flowing into AskElephant automatically
RevOps teams managing call capture across multiple reps
Customer success teams that review calls in AskElephant
Before You Begin
You need the workspace owner role in AskElephant to open Workspace Settings and connect an integration.
You need a Gong tech admin to create API credentials.
Gong shows the Access Key Secret only once, so copy it before you leave the Gong API page.
Step 1: Get Your Gong Credentials
In Gong, go to
Admin center → Settings → Ecosystem → API.Click
Get API KeyorCreate.Copy the Access Key and Access Key Secret.
On the same Gong API page, note the base URL for your workspace.
If AskElephant's form defaults to https://api.gong.io, treat that as a placeholder and replace it with the exact base URL Gong shows for your account.
Step 2: Connect Gong in AskElephant
Sign in as a workspace owner.
Click your workspace name, then open
Workspace Settings → Integrations.Find Gong.
Enter your Access Key, Secret Key, and API Base URL.
Optionally turn on:
Automatic Gong imports to keep importing new calls going forward.
Import active users only to import calls only for Gong users who are active in AskElephant.
Click
Connect.
You'll see a confirmation once the connection saves. If you're already connected and want to change a setting, update the toggle and click Save. You don't need to re-enter your credentials.
What Happens After You Connect
New Gong calls start importing automatically once the connection is saved.
Imported calls appear in AskElephant like any other meeting, with a transcript, summary, and signals ready for review and Workflows.
New calls typically appear within about an hour of finishing in Gong.
Automatic Gong imports covers new calls only. It does not pull in past recordings.
Importing Historical Calls
Automatic imports only bring in calls recorded after you connect. If you need older Gong calls imported, contact the AskElephant team and we'll help plan the import. See Importing Call Recordings into AskElephant for the other ways to bring recordings in.
Troubleshooting
I get an invalid credentials error. Double-check the Access Key, Secret Key, and Base URL. Regenerate the keys in Gong if needed, then reconnect.
The base URL doesn't work. Go back to Gong's API page and copy the exact workspace-specific base URL shown there.
No calls are importing. Confirm the calls happened after you connected Gong, and check that Automatic Gong imports is on. If you turned on Import active users only, make sure it isn't excluding the users you expect.
I need older calls. Automatic imports only bring in new calls. Contact support for help with a historical import.
