Introduction
Short definitions for the AskElephant terms you'll see across the product and this help center. Skim the full list or jump to a category.
Core Platform
Term | Definition |

AskElephant | The platform that captures your meetings, extracts structured information from them, and runs workflows on that data. Always written as one word. |
Workspace | Your organization's shared AskElephant environment. Your teammates, meetings, integrations, and settings all live inside one workspace. |
Group | An internal tag you apply to teammates to organize your workspace — for example, separating the sales and CS teams. |
Meetings
Term | Definition |

Meeting | A captured call, with its transcript, recording, participants, and any workflow outputs attached. |
Notetaker | The AskElephant bot that joins your calls to record and transcribe them. |
Transcript | The speaker-labeled, time-stamped text of what was said on a call. |
Recording | The audio or video file of a meeting, captured alongside the transcript. |
Recap Email | The automated post-meeting summary sent from |
Meeting Page | The per-meeting view where you see the transcript, recording, and workflow outputs for one call. |
Internal Meeting | A call where every participant is from your own organization. |
External Meeting | A call with at least one participant from outside your organization. |
Meeting Privacy Agent | The agent that enforces your rules about which meetings the Notetaker can and can't join. |
Chats and Agents
Term | Definition |

Chat | The interface for talking to AskElephant's AI about your workspace data. |
Conversation | A single threaded exchange inside chat, saved so you can return to it. |
Global Chat | The chat entry point available from anywhere in AskElephant, scoped to your workspace's data. |
Agent | An AI teammate that can reason, call tools, and take actions for you in chats and workflows. |
Tool | A narrow capability an agent or workflow can call — for example, internal search or web search. |
Prompt Library | A shared repository of reusable prompts you trigger in chat with |
Coach | The feature that reviews your meetings against a scorecard and gives you feedback on how you performed. |
Workflows
Term | Definition |
|---|---|
Workflow | An automated sequence of steps that runs when a trigger fires. |
Trigger | The event that starts a workflow — for example, a meeting ending or a signal firing. |
Action | A step inside a workflow that does something — posts to Slack, updates HubSpot, generates text. |
Node | One block in a workflow, representing a trigger, action, or decision step. |
Recipe | A pre-built workflow template you activate as-is or customize. |
Signal | A structured piece of information AskElephant extracts from every meeting — for example, objections, next steps, or churn indicators. You can search, filter, and trigger workflows on signals. |
Records and Search
Term | Definition |
|---|---|
Contact | A person record, enriched with their meeting history. |
Company | An organization record, tied to a domain, that aggregates every meeting and contact associated with it. |
Internal Search | Search across your AskElephant workspace — meetings, contacts, companies, and workflow outputs. |
Integration | A connection to an external system like HubSpot, Salesforce, or Slack that lets agents and workflows read or write data there. |
MCP | Short for Model Context Protocol. The open protocol that lets external AI tools connect to your AskElephant workspace. |
Roles
Term | Definition |
|---|---|
Owner | The top permission tier, with full admin control over the workspace, billing, and settings. |
Manager | A permission tier with admin powers over people, workflows, and settings, but below Owner. |
User | The standard permission tier. You use AskElephant day-to-day but can't change workspace-wide settings. |
