Connect Salesforce

Connecting Salesforce to AskElephant takes three steps: install the AskElephant package in Salesforce, confirm it installed, then connect the integration inside AskElephant. This guide walks you through each one.

Salesforce recently updated its policies for third-party apps, so AskElephant now connects through an installed package. This is the current setup method for all workspaces, including reconnecting a Salesforce integration you had connected before.

Before You Begin

  • Salesforce admin access. Installing the package for all users requires Salesforce administrator permissions.

  • AskElephant Owner role. Connecting the integration requires the workspace Owner role in AskElephant. Managers and Users can't open Workspace Settings.

If you don't have both, ask the right person on your team to complete the step they own.

Step 1: Install the AskElephant Package in Salesforce

  1. Open the AskElephant install link: https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04tak000000agqLAAQ

  2. When Salesforce asks who to install for, select Install for All Users.

  3. Click Install and wait for Salesforce to confirm the installation is complete.

Step 2: Confirm the Package Is Installed

  1. In Salesforce, go to Setup.

  2. Navigate to Packaging → Installed Packages.

  3. Confirm that AskElephant Salesforce Integration appears in the list.

Step 3: Connect Salesforce in AskElephant

  1. In AskElephant, go to Workspace Settings → Integrations.

  2. Find Salesforce and click Connect. If you're reconnecting an existing integration, click Reconnect.

  3. Follow the Salesforce authorization prompts to finish.

Once connected, your workspace workflows and the Salesforce Agent can read and update records within your Salesforce permissions.

Connect Your Individual Account

Chatting with the Salesforce Agent also requires a user-level connection. Each team member connects their own account under Personal settings → Integrations, whatever their role. See the Salesforce article for details on user-level access and the Salesforce Agent.

Troubleshooting

"This Package Can't Be Installed" or "Insufficient Privileges"

You need Salesforce admin rights to install a package for all users. Ask your Salesforce administrator to complete Step 1, or have them grant you the access you need.

"Internal Server Error" When Connecting

Your Salesforce admin needs to enable OAuth self-authorization for the AskElephant app. In Salesforce, open the App Manager, find AskElephant under Connected Apps OAuth Usage, click Edit Policies, and set Permitted Users to All users may self-authorize.

Salesforce Isn't Visible in Integrations

Hard refresh your browser (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows). If it's still missing, confirm the package installed correctly in Step 2, then contact support.

You Can't Find Workspace Settings

If Workspace Settings doesn't appear under your name, you aren't an Owner. Ask a workspace Owner to complete Step 3, or to change your role. See Roles & Permissions.
