Slack

Overview

Connect Slack to AskElephant to send messages from your Workflows, react when your team mentions AskElephant in a channel, and share meeting prep straight to Slack. Slack is mainly an output and trigger integration: AskElephant acts when a Workflow runs or a Slack event comes in, rather than syncing data on a schedule.

Slack is connected once at the workspace level. A personal Slack connection isn't used for Workflow steps.

Who It's For

  • Teams that want meeting summaries, signals, and follow-ups posted to Slack automatically

  • RevOps and enablement teams building Workflows that notify channels or people

  • Anyone who wants to share meeting prep to a channel or direct message

What You Can Do Once Connected

  • Send Slack messages from Workflows to channels, groups, or direct messages, immediately or on a schedule, including richly formatted messages.

  • Trigger a Workflow when someone mentions AskElephant in a channel you've set up.

  • Read recent channel messages inside a Workflow for analysis.

  • Deliver Workflow and system notifications to Slack.

  • Share meeting prep to a channel or direct message.

Before You Begin

  • You need the workspace owner role in AskElephant to connect Slack.

  • You need permission to install apps in your Slack workspace (or an admin who can approve it).

How to Connect

  1. Sign in as a workspace owner.

  2. Click your workspace name, then open Workspace Settings → Integrations.

  3. Find Slack and click Connect.

  4. Install and authorize the AskElephant app in your Slack workspace, approving the permissions it requests.

  5. Return to AskElephant.

Invite the AskElephant Bot to Your Channels

The AskElephant app has to be a member of any channel you post to or monitor. If the app isn't in the channel, messages won't send and channel triggers won't fire.

To add it, open the channel in Slack and type /invite @AskElephant, or add it from Channel details → Integrations → Add AskElephant.

Troubleshooting

Messages aren't posting to a channel. The AskElephant app isn't in that channel. Invite it with /invite @AskElephant.

A channel trigger isn't firing. By default the trigger needs AskElephant to be mentioned. Mention AskElephant in the message, or adjust the trigger settings.

A Reconnect button appears, or you see a permissions error. Click Reconnect and approve all the requested permissions.
