Prompt library

Estimated read time: 4 minutes

Overview

Prompt Library is your personal collection of reusable prompts that you can save, organize, and access instantly within AskElephant. Instead of copying and pasting the same prompts repeatedly across meetings and engagements, you can build a library once and use it anywhere. Think of it as a clipboard of ready-to-go templates that help you work faster and more consistently.

Why Prompt Library Matters

Repetition kills productivity. If you find yourself using the same prompt across multiple meetings or engagements, Prompt Library eliminates the copy-paste cycle. Instead, you create it once, save it, and pull it up whenever you need it in seconds.

This is especially valuable when you need consistency. For example, if you always summarize customer calls the same way, you can save that summary prompt and reuse it for every engagement without recreating it each time.

How to Access Prompt Library

  1. Look for Workflows in the left sidebar
  2. Select Prompts at the top of the left-hand menu

You'll see a complete list of all available prompts, including details like the prompt title, description, version number, who created it, and when it was last edited.

Creating a New Prompt

Step 1: Click the New Prompt button in Prompt Library

Step 2: Fill in the prompt details:

  • Title: A clear, recognizable name (e.g., "Meeting Summary Template")
  • Description: A brief explanation of what the prompt does
  • Content: The actual prompt text or instructions

Step 3: Set visibility:

  • Public: Everyone in your workspace can see and use it
  • Private: Only you can access it

Step 4: Click Create Prompt

Your prompt is now saved and ready to use.

Editing and Managing Prompts

As your workflows evolve, your prompts will too. To update a prompt:

  1. Find the prompt in your Prompt Library (scroll or search)
  2. Click the three dots next to it
  3. Select Edit
  4. Make your changes and save

AskElephant automatically tracks every version of your prompt. When you make changes, the version number updates (v1 becomes v2, and so on), and the system notes who edited it and when. This keeps everyone aligned and creates a clear record of how your prompts have evolved.

Using Prompts in Your Work

The beauty of Prompt Library is its accessibility. Whenever you're working in an AskElephant engagement or workflow:

  1. Type / (forward slash) anywhere in your chat or work area
  2. The Prompt Library popup appears
  3. Search for the prompt you need or browse your list
  4. Select the prompt to insert it instantly

No copying, no pasting, no switching between tabs. Your entire prompt library is one keystroke away.

Real-World Example

Let's say you run customer calls every week and always need the same summary format. Here's how it works:

  • You create a "Weekly Call Summary" prompt once and save it to Prompt Library
  • After each customer call, you open the meeting engagement
  • You type / in the AskElephant chat, select your summary prompt, and it appears instantly
  • You run it and get a consistent summary every single time
  • If you decide to change the summary format later, you edit the prompt once, and all future uses reflect that change

Public vs. Private Prompts

Use Public prompts when your entire team benefits from the same templatelike a standard meeting summary format or discovery call outline. Public prompts keep your team aligned and consistent.

Use Private prompts for your own workflows or templates you're still developing. Private prompts stay visible only to you, keeping your personal work organized without cluttering your team's shared library.

You can always change a prompt's visibility later as your needs shift.

Next Steps

Start by identifying one prompt you use regularly. Create it, save it to Prompt Library, and try pulling it up with the / command. Once you see how much time it saves, you'll likely build out more templates for your common workflows.
